Old trains become like new at BS Verkstäder

Falköping - ongoing service

Keeping the railway's working vehicles in good condition is BS Verkstäder's core business. The engine shed in Falköping receives railway machines for repair from all over Scandinavia. To "handle" vehicles of this size requires large spaces and a lot of power. The facility in Falköping includes a 24-bed roundhouse, a main workshop with two 120-meter-long tracks and a 600-meter-long test track in the yard.

It is important that it works properly all the time!

Therefore, "our" Fredrik Svensson is on hand and in place when it "matters". Fredrik knows the engine sheds inside and out, since 1989 he has been walking around the premises and hanging out with the staff. The tasks vary from ongoing service and installation to refurbishment of the old historic buildings. To some extent he is also involved in the electrical installations of the work vehicles.

Fascinating premises and timely ideas.

Entering the old locomotive sheds is fascinating. Ancient history, large machines and vehicles combined with modern technology. The work here is like a "craft" and requires specialized knowledge. Taking care of, restoring and adapting the vehicles to new needs and extending their lifespan is a very contemporary way of working.
